Universidad Veritas
Universidad VERITAS founded in 1991, is private Art, Design and Architecture University in San José Costa Rica. There is an 1100 student population enrolled in 7 different Schools or Departments: Architecture, Advertising Design, Digital Animation, Film & Television, Interior Design, Product Design, Photography and a Design Studies master's degree.
VERITAS has many international academic agreements with universities and educational agencies and hosts over 500 foreign students per year. Our study abroad program is over 15 years old. Universidad VERITAS offers a variety of possibilities for Study Abroad students.

San Jose, Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a country located in Central America, recognized for its scenic beauty and biodiversity, four kinds of tropical forest, beautiful beaches on both coasts, seventeen micro climates, 855 species of birds, 221 species of animals and 12 000 species of plants. These are just some of the natural assets of this small paradise. |

| Dates: |
The Veritas programs are based on four week intensive Spanish modules which are offered throughout the year. Typically, they begin on the first Monday of the month. They also offer three month trimesters which combine three Spanish modules with one or more regular classes taught in English or Spanish. • September 28 - December 18, 2009 • January 4 - March 26, 2010 |
| Fields of Study: |
Intensive Spanish. English-taught classes in business and economics, environmental studies, history and politics, arts and humanities. Spanish taught classes in literature and linguistics. Courses in architecture, advertising design, film & television, interior design, digital animation, photography and product design are available for those with advanced Spanish. The cost will be different for these classes which are with the Costa Rican students. |

Undergraduate level only although graduate students may take the classes. |

Five (5) per intensive Spanish class. The regular classes are normally three (3) credits. |

| Program Fee: |
The semester fee for Fall 2009 is $5,370. This includes the enrollment fee and transcript, three Spanish modules, one elective class, instructional materials, airport pick-up, homestay, excursions and International Student ID Card. There is an additional cost for more modules or additional elective classes. |
| Other Costs: |
SIUC tuition for one credit, study abroad administration, passport, airfare and other personal expenses including lunch, local transportation and personal items. Lunches are available at the University's cafeteria for around $3 |
| Financial Aid: |
Most forms of regular financial aid will apply. |
| Housing: |
Participants live with host families. The homestay includes a single room, sheets, towels, pillow, blanket, cooking facilities, breakfast, dinner. A telephone is available, but students must purchase a local telephone card on arrival. |
| Transportation: |
Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to Costa Rica and local transportation. Most families are within walking distance. Some are within a five minute bus ride. |
