Please submit your:

  • Name (indicate if you do not want your name used on the web site)
  • Program and semester
  • Contact information (e-mail and telephone)

Submitting Photos

  • Digital or film
  • Digital may be sent as an attachment or on a CD-ROM, any file size
  • Please include a title or brief description of the photos if you are just sending in a few. If you are sending in a large group, then we will contact you for the description of those we use.
  • Photos may be used on our website, in study abroad or other university publications
  • We are particularly looking for photos of you or other SIUC students involved with activities in your host culture. We do welcome all photos and we will hold a Study Abroad Photo Contest later in the year. You may submit the same photo for the contest and a Saluki Story.

Submitting Photo-stories

  • Basic details about your academic program and host institution
  • Descriptions of daily and campus life in the host culture
  • Photos of people, traditions and local customs
  • What you learned from your experience
  • Ways your study abroad experience affected your life
  • Submit as an attachment (Word preferably) or on disk, Photos same as above.
  • You may submit the same photos and essay elsewhere, such as the ISEP Photo-Essay Contest

This does not have to be long. For photos, please include a brief description of what is shown unless you are already explaining that in the essay. In some cases, people write the essays and the photos don't relate directly to text. In others, the essay is basically what is happening in the photos. Either is fine. What you should have in mind is what you might have thought interesting or wanted to know before you went. There is no particular word count although the equivalent of no more than a page or two is best.
