IPS - Study Abroad Programs
African Cultural Continuities - Ghana
The program has been taking students during summer semesters to Ghana since 1997 and has expanded this year to South Africa. Participants experience first-hand Ghanaian and South African life from the traditional to contemporary, are able to place it in historical perspective, and gain some insight into the cultures of African people on the continent and in the African Diaspora on a global level. The course is structured to combine text analysis with fieldwork in the communities participants visit or live in during their sojourn.
