Our students pay SIUC tuition, fees, and room & board (based on residence hall charge) plus a small exchange fee. Tuition, fees, and housing costs at Kansai Gaidai will be waived. Students will receive an allowance for meal costs. |

Students are responsible for their own transportation, books & supplies, and personal expenses. |

| Housing: |
Housing is either in dormitories (Japanese-style) or with families in the Osaka area. The off-campus housing with families is highly recommended, but does require some commuting. |
| Transportation: |
Students arrange their own internatianl and local transportation. Kansai Gaidai does provide a pick-up service at the airport with sufficient notice. |

After a week of on-site orientation, participants will attend the School of Asian Studies at Kansai Gaidai for one or two semesters. Students must enroll full-time each semester and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to continue in the program. All students must enroll in one of the spoken Japanese courses appropriate to their language level. Remaining courses are selected from those offered by the School of Asian Studies. Courses in most non-science disciplines are offered. |
